Farah Khan Became Mad Director
She has directed two super-duper hit films, has made numerous appearances as judge on song and dance reality shows, and was a successful choreographer before that. Now, Farah Khan is set for a cameo role in close friend Shah Rukh Khanâs television production, Ghar Ki Baat Hai. She, it seems, just canât stop!
IN a case of art mirroring life, filmmaker Farah Khan will play a director in Shah Rukh Khanâs Ghar Ki Baat Hai (NDTV Imagine, Friday-Sunday, 9.30 pm). Her cameo will air on Friday, March 6

The choreographer-turned-director is believed to play an eccentr! ic version of
herself. Farah spoke to us about her cameo as well as her other projects.
âI am playing a mad director on Ghar Ki Baat Hai. In my sequence, Kaku (played by Swapnil Joshi), comes to an advertising agency for a job and I meet him there. I then give him tips to get the job and tell him how to impress the boss. My shoot lasted just two hours.â
Though she claims to like Ghar Ki Baat Hai, Farah admits she has only managed to watch the first episode. âIt is very difficult to catch up with any show and manage three kids!â she says.
The director recently shot for Milap Jhaveriâs Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. âI am playing myself in this film. They told me I would be doing a cameo, but shooting went on for six days. I shot for a song sequence too. So I felt like I was the second lead of the film.â
Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai stars Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandes and Sonal Sehgal.
In addition to her! cameos, Farah has also found the time to shoot for her talk s! how. â We have shot the first episode. It was a very nice experience. It is not a routine talk show. We will bring in different issues. Common people will also be involved in the show. I canât tell you who the first celebrity guest on the show is. The channel (NDTV Imagine) will kill me!â
Farah will also be judging Jo Jeeta Wohi Dancing Star (Star Plus, Friday-Saturday, 10 pm). âI think most big shows have pushed their launches due to the upcoming Indian Premier
League season. So we havenât started shooting yet. I do not know what is happening. We may start after the IPL.â
Farah Khan earlier judged Star Plusâs reality dance show, Nach Baliye-4. Jo Jeeta Wohi Dancing Star is expected to launch in June this year.

Racist Attacks In Australia A Shameful Happening - Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan is now back to work after a two months long holiday break. Though his actual shoot begins from June 15th for 3 Idiots, he will be busy with some film related work from Monday June 1st.
Announcing his come back through his blog, Aamir states that in the vacation he played quiet a few board games such as Settlers Of Catan, Age Of Empires, Carrcassonne and Scotland Yard. These are basically all group games needing 4 to 6 players.

Disturbed by the recent ! attacks on Indian students studying in Australia, Aamir has condemned these attacks stating, âMost disturbing to hear about racist attacks on Indians living in Australia. Quite a shame.
While this doesnât mean that all Australians are racists, the frequency and seriousness of such attacks, I think, calls for an extra ordinary reaction from the Australian authorities.
And while we want action to be taken by authorities in Australia, equally we should remember all the various crimes against foreigners who visit India. Let us hope and pray that Shravan recovers soon. â

Movie Review Of "Kambakkht Ishq"
Bizarre has a new meaning and it's called Kambakkht Ishq.
Of late, Akshay Kumar has earned the reputation of making you laugh in film after film. You expect Kambakkht Ishq, his new outing, to transport you to ha-ha-land, given the smart-n-chic promos of the film.
Kambakkht Ishq belongs to the same family of films which have wooed the masses, such as MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI, WELCOME, SINGH IS KINNG and GOLMAAL RETURNS. The prime motive is to entertain you for the next 2 hours, logic be damned.
Yet, Kambakkht Ishq is different because it depicts the battle of the sexes, a theme that's rarely depicted on the Hindi screen. The lingo is poles apart, so is the attitude. In fact, this is a modern take on relationships, with the two hours divided between laughter and emotions, frivolous and reality.
Let's get this straight. Kambakkht Ishq works in most parts thanks to the kind of star power and energy that the two actors pack in -- Akshay K! umar and Kareena Kapoor.

It would've been difficult to hold the film from falling apart had the two actors not been competent enough to carry off their respective parts. Also, the presence of Hollywood stars -- Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards -- the first on the Hindi screen, is an added bonus. 1 pe 2 ka offer; Bollywood stars ke saath Hollywood free!
The focus is on the entertainment quotient. There are moments when you laugh so uncontrollably that it gets embarrassing and there are times when you continue smiling, even durin! g the most ordinary scenes.
But Kambakkht Ishq dip! s in its second hour because you expect it to be as frivolous as the first hour, but it changes tracks and gets emotional. Things would've gone wrong had the end stumbled and fumbled, but it doesn't. The finale, in fact, takes the film back to the level that one expects from a film of this magnitude.
To sum up, Kambakkht Ishq offers you value for time and also, value for money. It offers loads of entertainment in those 2 + hours, loads of glamour in those 130 odd minutes, from start to end. Sure, there are blemishes, but they're trivial when you look at the larger picture.
Kambakkht Ishq explores the relationship between two individuals who are as different as chalk and cheese. Viraj [Akshay Kumar] is a stuntman in Hollywood, who lives by the mantra 'women are only good for two things'. Simrita [Kareena Kapoor] is a firebrand who is more than able to stare down the most arrogant male with her caustic wit and sardonic tongue.
So what happens when the ! two people who hate each other the most meet at Simrita's best friend Kamini's [Amrita Arora] and Viraj's brother Lucky's [Aftab Shivdasani] wedding? A wedding that both Viraj and Simrita are violently opposed to and desperate to stop. Sparks fly... the battle of the sexes in on.

Director Sabbir Khan's motive is simple: Entertain for the next 2 hours. The entire first hour moves at a lightening speed, making you enjoy the war of words between Akshay and Kareena at regular intervals.
The first half abounds in terrific moments, but I'd like to single ! out at least three...
* One, the church wedding of ! Aftab an d Amrita. When the battle lines are drawn.
* Two, the sequence at the operation table, when Akshay spots Kareena.
* Three, the interval point. The pendant connection. Howlarious sequences all!
The post-interval starts with a bang, with Akshay hearing the 'Om Mangalam' chant just about everywhere -- while sleeping, in the shower, in the rest room, even at an award function. The award function sequence is a double whammy. You get to watch Stallone and also the scene is superbly structured, executed and enacted.
Things are smooth sailing till the emotional angle comes up. The narrative dips in those 20 odd minutes. The mood suddenly shifts from laughter to sadness.
The makers may argue that a twist in the tale is justified from the writing point of view, since the emotional track is vital for any love story, but the fact remains that one does miss the entertainment quotient here. In fact, the dip in the second hour erodes! , to a large extent, the impression that the first half had built so magnificently.

Director Sabbir Khan picks up a theme that may catch you by complete surprise, but marinates it in entertainment, garnishes it well and presents it like never before. The review would be incomplete if we failed to highlight the grandiose look and the lavish production values thanks to the no-holds-barred expenses by producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Each frame looks ostentatious and glitzy.
Music is up to the mark, with three interesting tracks -- 'Om Mangalam' [RDB], 'Lakh ! Lakh' and 'Bebo' [Anu Malik]. Cinematography [Vikas Sivaraman]! is magn ificent, with the DoP doing complete justice to the production values.
Kambakkht Ishq belongs to both, Akshay and Kareena. Akshay is dynamic this time. He received a lot of flak for CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA and there was this nagging feeling that the negativity would spill over to Kambakkht Ishq.
But Akshay is in terrific form here and delivers, without a shred of doubt, a bravura performance. If you loved him in NAMASTEY LONDON and SINGH IS KINNG, you'd fall in love with Akki and his comic timing all over again this time.
Kareena left an indelible impression in JAB WE MET and creates a similar impact, albeit in a different role. Clearly, she is miles ahead of her contemporaries as far as talent goes and this film proves it yet again.

Aftab and Amrita are perfect for their parts. Vindu Singh supports well. Javed Jaffrey doesn't make a mark because the role has no connection with the main plot. Kirron Kher is getting typecast. Boman Irani is hilarious in that lone sequence. Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards are well integrated in the narrative.
On the whole, Kambakkht Ishq will strike a chord with the youth and those who relish zany and madcap entertainers. The first half is tremendous, while the second half takes a dip, with the film picking up towards the climax.
At the box-office, the film will see an earth-shattering opening weekend and a historic Week 1. It remains to be seen how this film fares in its second weekend/week, given the massive number of screens! it has opened globally [2,000 +].
However, the ti! ming is most appropriate [the viewer is thirsting for a biggie] and the hype is tremendous, which should prove very advantageous for the film.

Damn Critics - Kareena Kapoor
Kambakkht Ishq arrived, got ripped apart by critics, made it's crores, enjoyed it's celebrations and is now being followed by the release of other big films like Love Aaj Kal and Kaminey. With the euphoria surrounding the release of the film dying down over last few weeks and an all around stability coming in, Kareena Kapoor comes out smiling.
"Whatever I have would have said earlier would have seemed as if I was defending the movie. But then that was never the case. Why would I have done that when box office was the biggest defender of all? Audiences came in dozens to watch the film and they made the movie a success.
Even though it may not be the quintessential super-duper blockbuster Bollywood hit but a very good success it certainly is and collections pretty much prove that", says Kareena who is now looking forward to the release of Saif Ali Khan's Love Aaj Kal which releases this Friday.
In retrospection, doesn't she feel surprised with ! the way media came down heavily on the film? Sighs Kareena, "But then isn't a film like Kambakkht Ishq an easy movie to criticize?
If one looks in the recent past, most Akshay (Kumar) films have seen a similar response from critics as well as box office. Look at Welcome or Singh Is Kinng; critics disliked them both but audiences had their own mind."

"Akshay is perhaps one of the only stars who has been party to such a consistent run with critics as well his audiences, both of whom seem to be on different sides of the fence", she smiles.
Even for Kare! ena, this is not the first time though that one of her films w! ent on t o become a big money spinner in spite of coming under the hammer. Last year, there was not a single critic who stood up to Rohit Shetty directed Golmaal Returns but the film made mega bucks after taking a thunderous initial.
"I guess by working in films like Omkara or Jab We Met and a Golmaal Returns or Kambakkht Ishq, I am striking just the right balance.
It's okay when critics do not like Kambakkht Ishq or Golmaal Returns; there are some films that are made purely for the audiences and they succeed there.
Critics may be having an individualistic opinion while audiences always come together with a collective verdict. It's a matter of choice at the end of the day, so it's all fine", she reasons.
Coming months should be indeed exciting for her as it would be there for all to see if critics as well as audiences warm up to her performance. Starting with Qurbaan, she would also be seen in Main Aur Mrs. Khanna as well as 3 Idiots.

Salman Khan Sent Women In A Tizzy
Love him or hate him, you simply can't ignore him. Bollywood actor Salman Khan wooed women with his charming smile as he strode the ramp at the finale of the Van Heusen India Mens Week (VHIMW) here Sunday night.
Looking confident, the actor walked with poise when designers Ashish Soni, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna of label Cue showcased their collection. All through his walk, the actor kept looking at the audience who were waving, whistling and yelling to get his attention.
"Wow!" exclaimed a female fan when the actor walked in Soni's black suit.
Sitting in the front row, another young girl kept one hand on her heart and one on her mouth as she couldn't be! lieve that her favourite actor was just a few inches away from her.
"I just can't believe it. I am his biggest fan and trust me I am still shaking because the feeling of having him just a few inches away from me is giving me goose bumps, " confessed Ishita Arora.
"There was a point when I thought that I would hug him on the ramp. I am sure no one would have stopped me. But I couldn't muster up enough courage, " she added.
As the designers and the actor were taking a final bow on the ramp, Salman took off his coat filling the hall with cheers and whistles. But it was not just women, men too had joined them. Salman appeared to be loving the attention.
There were some men in the audience who were envious of the actor because of his well-maintained body.
"He is so fit. How does he manage that? Look at him. Does he look like he is forty something, " asked Vikram Nagpal, a model.
It was not just the magic of Kha! n but the designers at the finale too left a lasting impressio! n in the audience's mind.
While Soni's "On the Run" collection comprised of flawlessly cut tuxedos, cotton shirts, jackets and pants for a leaner sexier look, Rahul and Rohit's collection "Hypernature" had pants with dropped crotches, small collars with thin ties and denim suits in forest green, apple red, mist blues and evergreen-black.
Also present at the finale were actress Mugdha Godse and director Madhur Bhandarkar.
Saif's Nonstop Kissing To Kareena?
A nod of approval from papa Randhir Kapoor has made Bebo and Saif a happy B-town couple and their joy is being reflected on reel as well.
We hear that Saif and Kareena have created a record for the longest kiss on camera for their upcoming movie Kurbaan.
According to unit sources, Saif continued to kiss Kareena and the kiss seemed to be never ending. It is one of the special attractions of the film.
Director Rensil D'Silva wants to present the chemistry between the real life lovers in the movie.
He is banking on the kissing scene so much so that Rensil believes that a certain section of the sex-starved audience will come to the theatres just t! o see Saif and Kareena in bed.
"A section of the audience might have decided to see this movie only to see the real-life couple making hot shot on the silver screen. It would be tragic," says Rensil.
